WashU Mindfulness Week
Tuesday, September 24, 2024 11 AM to 7 PM
About this Event
With all the pressures in the world this season – the contentious election in the US, the numerous wars and conflicts around the world, tragically too many to name, the rapid devastation of our ecosystems, and the usual stresses of life – it’s important to pause and remember that inner wellbeing and interconnectedness is still available to us. Mindfulness is a tool that precisely helps us do this and we’re pleased to let you know that we have a week of activities to help you do just that.
Our theme this year is Inhabit the Moment | Restore Your Equilibrium | Cultivate Connection.
Highlights include one of the world’s most renowned Tibetan Buddhist meditation teachers, the Venerable Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, delivering the keynote “Change Your Mind, Change Your World: Recognizing Innate Wellbeing”, live from Nepal.
Join us for the watch party at Umrath Lounge Wednesday at 10 a.m., where we will raffle 10 copies of one of his books.
For those unable to join us in person, register for the webinar option here.
We will also have the 8th speaker in our Mindfulness & Anti-Racism Series live from Asheville, North Carolina. Larry Ward is the author of America’s Racial Karma: An Invitation to Heal, and was ordained as a Dharma teacher by Thich Nhat Hanh, the world-renowned peace activist and founder of the Plum Village tradition of Engaged Buddhism.
Join us for the watch party at Brown Lounge Friday at 2 p.m., where we will raffle 10 autographed copies of his book. For those unable to join us in person, register for the webinar option here.
There also will be mindful movement, art, music and guided meditations, and a research panel to learn more about mindfulness-related research being done here at Washu!
