This month at Precision Medicine Thursdays at Venture Café, Kevin Bennett and Victor Song will present cutting-edge imaging tools that allow the early detection kidney disease and prostate cancer. Bennett will discuss a tool that his lab and XN Biotechnologies, LLC are developing which provides a three-dimensional map of kidney microstructure and function, based on radiological imaging. This map will be used to guide early interventions to prevent chronic kidney disease. Song will talk about development of an image processing software package that can be used as a diagnostic device to accurately detect and grade tumors in the prostate. This imaging tool will ultimately lead to the elimination of unnecessary biopsies, overtreatment and associated complications.
