##ESE, #ImagingUltrasound technology has evolved far beyond its commonly known application in pregnancy scans. Today, it serves as a potent medical tool, capable of penetrating the human skull to target specific areas in the brain with unparalleled precision—down to the millimeter—all without requiring any incisions. Envision a future where brain cancer and other neurological diseases can be diagnosed and treated without the need for invasive surgeries or complex procedures. This future is now within reach, thanks to advances in ultrasound technology. In this seminar, Dr. Chen will unveil the transformative potential of ultrasound for non-invasive diagnosis and treatment of brain diseases. Dr. Chen will introduce "sonobiopsy," a novel technique pioneered by her team. This technique safely opens the blood-brain barrier, allowing for the release of critical biomarkers like DNA, RNA, and proteins from the brain into the bloodstream. This technique represents a significant leap forward, paving the way for the development of highly sensitive blood tests that can diagnose neurological diseases without the need for high-risk, invasive procedures. Beyond diagnosis, Dr. Chen's team has harnessed ultrasound to enhance the brain's glymphatic transport, opening new avenues for drug and gene delivery to the brain for the treatment of neurological diseases. This presentation will cover the technology development, clinical translation, and commercialization of these exciting ultrasound techniques.
