This single session workshop aims to introduce participants to the common issues and best practices that have emerged over the last several months regarding the use of AI language generators by college students and teachers. We will offer an initial exploration of ChatGPT’s basic functionality, followed by discussion on best practices for addressing AI plagiarism with your students, how to introduce ChatGPT to your students as a research tool, and ideas for incorporating ChatGPT into classroom exercises and assignments. This course is aimed particularly at graduate students and faculty teaching undergraduate courses in the humanities and social sciences, though participants from all fields are welcome. There are no prerequisites for this workshop.

This class will be fully in-person, and participants will use their own laptops.
