Kazakhstan’s National Fund for Children policy, launched in 2024, redirects half of the annual earnings from the nation’s sovereign wealth fund to accounts for its children. This landmark international symposium will center on the policy and its effects.

Kazakhstan’s innovative policy centers Child Development Accounts (CDAs) in a strategy for fostering economic growth and human development as the world transitions from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources. With a total investment exceeding US$1.5 billion over the first 2 years, this initiative sets the stage for significant long-term impacts, attracting global attention and offering a unique opportunity for knowledge exchange.

Gathering at Maqsut Narikbayev University in Astana, Kazakhstan, experts in policy, research, finance, social work, and social development will discuss the nation’s Child Development Account policy, develop a research agenda, share strategies for adapting the policy to other jurisdictions, and initiate partnerships for cross-border research and investments in children.

The symposium is hosted by Maqsut Narikbayev University and the Center for Social Development in the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis, U.S.A. The hosts and sponsors welcome policymakers, researchers, social-sector decision-makers, and funders for impactful dialogue, knowledge exchange, networking, and collaboration.
