The Department of Sociology encourages students to expand their course-related knowledge through several extracurricular and cocurricular opportunities - like this one!

In partnership with the Missouri History Museum, the Washington University Department of Sociology will host their second off-campus field trip of the 2022-2023 academic year on Friday, October 14, 2022.

"St. Louis Sound" recognizes the countless contributions that St. Louis musicians have made to the music world. Additionally, the exhibit explores some of the social, economic, political, and cultural dynamics that have shaped St. Louis, the music and the musicians that originate here, and the music industry at large. Learn more about this special limited-time exhibit here.

Participation is limited to the first 15 students; register here. While the Sociology Department will guide a walking tour leading to this off-campus exhibit, students that coordinate their own transporation to the Museum should check in with the Academic Coordinator prior to theevent to share their anticipated plans. The group will leave Seigle Hall, Suite 213 promptly at 2:00 p.m. Students participating in walking transportation should arrive no later than 1:50 p.m.

"No-show" participants will forfeit their place in future field trips. This exhibit is free of cost to students and will feature a guided tour of the exhibit given by the Museum staff. Students should expect to return to campus at 5:00 p.m.
