Many say talking with family members, friends, partners, colleagues and even doctors about sexuality can be awkward, and so they avoid it. If we can’t talk about sexuality, however, we can’t teach our children sex education, negotiate sexual relationships, learn how to practice sexual health, nor advocate for sexual rights. Sex chatting is a social work/sexual health intervention that aims to help people speak more confidently, knowledgeably, and skillfully about sexuality. If you are wondering how to be a sexuality educator for yourself or for others across generations, identifications, and worldviews, this session may be for you. Professor Susan Stiritz will share some of the tools used at the Brown School’s Specialization in Sexual Health and Education at the Center for Sexuality and Gender.
