Native American Heritage Month documentary screening
Wednesday, November 20, 2024 12 PM to 1:30 PM
About this Event
In celebration of Native American Heritage Month, the McKelvey School of Engineering Equity, Diversity & Inclusion invites you to a screening of the powerful and thought-provoking documentary “Bad River.”
The film chronicles the Wisconsin-based Bad River Band and its ongoing fight for sovereignty. The story unfolds in a series of shocking revelations and devastating loss amid a powerful legacy of defiance and resilience. This inspiring project brings us through the history and into the present, with a David and Goliath battle over a 70-year-old pipeline – a pipeline close to rupturing and spilling its oil into Lake Superior, the largest freshwater resource in America.
As Tribal Elder Eldred Corbine says, "We gotta protect it … die for it, if we have to."
We hope you can join us for this engaging event as we honor the resilience and heritage of Native American communities.
Light snacks and refreshments will be served at the event.
