MLK 2022: Cultivating Community – A Day on Not Off

Monday, January 17 | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Virtual Event

We are excited to share something to look forward to with annual MLK Week Commemoration 2022! The week will feature a keynote address by Jonathan Metzl followed by a conversation with Dean Perlmutter. Also featured is the annual State of Diversity at WUSM by Sherree Wilson, associate vice chancellor and associate dean of diversity, equity and inclusion at WUSM. We will host community discussions on WUSM Leadership’s Commitment to Anti-racism, and other opportunities for learning and fostering well-being as we work for change.

Resources provided by the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Week.

Whether through time or treasure we are hoping to make it easier for the WUSM community to be of service to our local community on this day and beyond.  We will provide resources for the following:

  • Opportunities for on-site volunteering both on MLK Day and beyond
  • Information about on-going volunteer opportunities
  • Contacts and wish lists for making in-kind donations
  • Suggestions for organizations to support through online donations

Available opportunities:

CASA de Salud – Needs volunteers for:

  • Beautification, such as painting
  • Long term – Practitioners – Must complete a volunteer form and undergo a background check, and other medical tests.

The Little Bit Foundation  – 10 volunteers needed:

  • Work in warehouse to tag items for students

If interested in volunteering you may register here!
