Getting Here

Ericka Hart will deliver the Masters and Johnson Annual Lecture.

The specialization in sexual health and education invites you to attend the Masters and Johnson Annual Lecture, “Radical Sex Positivity,” followed by a reception.

Hart will present this talk which teaches sexual health and wellness from a queer, anti-racist lens. It centers those who navigate society from its margins and helps participants identify how they are complicit in racialized systems of unjust, foster practical ways to make spaces safer for marginalized groups and apply a pleasure and consent based inclusive approach to their professional and personal lives.

This event is free, and parking is available in any campus garage.

The Annual Masters and Johnson Lecture at the Brown School works to build on the legacy of sex research, therapy and education.

Speaker Information

A Black queer feminist, writer, highly acclaimed speaker and award-winning sexuality educator, Ericka Hart’s groundbreaking work pushes beyond the threshold of sex positivity. Their practice is rooted in radical thought around human sexual expression as inextricable to health and its intersections with race, gender, chronic illness and disability. They hold a Master of Education in Human Sexuality from Widener University and broke ground in 2016 by going topless in public, showing their double mastectomy scars. A well renowned speaker, they have toured colleges and universities across the country and been featured in many print and online publications including Buzzfeed, Washington Post, Huffington Post, BBC News, Cosmopolitan, W Magazine, Glamour, Elle, Essence, Fader, and Refinery 29, and is the face of three running PSAs on the television channel VICELAND.
