Today’s Internet applications are, by and large, running on cloud servers or relying on cloud services for critical functions including identification, authentication, and rendezvous. In this talk, we use the design and implementation of NDN Workspace, a web-based, multi-user collaborative app to showcase a new way to develop Internet applications which are solely controlled by end users and have no reliance on cloud services. NDN Workspace uses DNS names to identify users and enables users to establish trust relations among each other directly. Users exchange secured, URI-identified objects over any and all available communications channels to collaborate securely and resiliently.
