Primary partners provide an essential source of support for people living with HIV in rural, resource-poor settings in sub-Saharan Africa, and are a key point of intervention.

This talk will discuss the science behind couple relationships and HIV care engagement, describing several ongoing projects using couple-based approaches to impact a wide range of health behaviors in southern Africa. A featured study will be the evaluation of an economic and relationship-strengthening intervention to reduce heavy alcohol use in Malawi.

This program is presented in partnership with the International Center for Child Health and Development.
