Sub-Saharan Africa faces a unique combination of health, mental health, and social challenges. It is also a region of great innovation in intervention research to identify the most effective and multi-faceted approaches to alleviate these challenges. This panel will highlight the work of three emerging investigators at the International Center for Child Health and Development (ICHAD) to conduct research to address some of the region’s most pressing issues. Panelists will discuss their innovative approaches to women’s economic empowerment, child and adolescent HIV, and refugee mental health, as well as their personal stories of resilience and dedication.
ICHAD is celebrating ten years as a renowned research organization committed to reducing poverty and improving public health outcomes for children, adolescents, and families in low-resource communities. By developing innovative applied intervention research and promoting economic empowerment, as well as building the next generation of researchers from and in the region, ICHAD aims to uplift countless lives in Sub-Saharan Africa and beyond. This program is presented in partnership with the International Center for Child Health and Development (ICHAD).
