The Center for Diversity and Inclusion presents WashU’s annual Latiné summit which will be held April 12 from 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. in Umrath Lounge. The 2023 Latiné Summit theme is Estamos Aquí: Latiné Representation at WashU.  

The Summit will bring together the Latiné community of WashU to have conversations about representation at the university and build spaces for Latiné student and faculty/staff organizing. We hope to strengthen the WashU Latiné community through networking, relationship building, and conversations. The Summit will have a keynote speaker, multiple tabletop discussions, space to casually network and meet the WashU Latiné community, and more! Dinner is provided. Shirts will be distributed after the event.

Speaker Information

Our speaker, Cristóbal Rodríguez is an Associate Professor of Educational Leadership and Policy and recently served as the Associate Dean of Equity, Inclusion and Community Engagement at the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College of Arizona State University. Being born and raised in the Texas Borderlands of El Paso under hard-working immigrant parents from Mexico, and studying in Germany as a U.S. Congress-German Bundestag scholar has shaped the world views and research of Rodríguez, along with his Ph.D. studies in Education Policy and Planning with a portfolio in Mexican American Studies at The University of Texas at Austin. Rodríguez’ research highlights the need for systemic equity and culturally responsive leadership and policy across the education system
