Opportunities and Challenges for Multi-level Culturally Congruent Preventive Interventions

Almost 90% of the world's children live in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Yet most of our knowledge about how interventions affect children’s emotional well-being comes from high-income or predominantly English-speaking countries.

In this program, Ismayilova will draw on the experience of conducting studies with at-risk children and adolescents in Kazakhstan, Burkina Faso, and Azerbaijan. She will discuss integrating multi-level intervention strategies that are aimed at building children’s individual competencies and skills to deal with traumatic and adverse childhood experiences, strengthening family-level resources and support systems, and addressing structural factors such as poverty and gender inequalities.

This program is presented in partnership with the International Center for Child Health and Development.
