Innovations in PET and Molecular Imaging Technologies at Washington University

Abstract: Washington University in St. Louis is the birthplace of positron emission tomography (PET) technology and continues to be a leader in its innovations and applications. PET is used clinical for the diagnosis of cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, cardiac diseases, etc. and to guide therapeutic interventions. This seminar will provide a brief overview of PET and several technological advances currently happening at WashU. It will also introduce a recent breakthrough in SPECT (single photon emission computed tomography) technology at WUSM.
