Abstract: Industrial Experience: William (Bill) Milliken – 32 Years with Chevron
William (Bill) Milliken is a Chemical Engineering graduate of Washington University (1984) who subsequently earned an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Davis.  Bill joined Chevron’s Oil Field Research Company in 1991 and began a 32-year career in Research and Technology Development and Deployment focusing mostly numerical reservoir simulation.  Bill will discuss his career, the projects and technologies on which he worked, and some of his experiences.

Bio: William (Bill) Milliken holds a B.Sc. Chemical Engineering from Washington University and M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Davis. Bill completed postdocs in California Institute of Technology and University of California, Santa Barbara before joining Chevron in 1991. For Chevron, Bill worked primarily in the general area of numerical reservoir simulation including: Streamline Simulation, Assisted History Matching, Reservoir Model Upscaling, Fast Flow Diagnostics, Network Modeling, and Modeling of CO2 Sequestration.  Bill worked on projects across the globe from Saudi Arabia to Argentina and Indonesia and from the UK to Kazakhstan and Angola.  Bill has published over 40 papers plus numerous internal Chevron reports and presentations.  Bill is the recipient of the 2009 Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) International Public Service Award, the 2022 SPE Western Regional Award for Reservoir Description and Dynamics and the 2023 Western Regional Award for Service.  He is currently the Program Co-chair of the 2025 SPE Western Regional Meeting.
