Research from the Center on Poverty and Social Policy at Columbia University forecasts that Black and Hispanic individuals are among the groups likely to experience large increases in poverty rates as a result of the coronavirus pandemic’s economic effects. Healthcare costs, furloughs and layoffs, overrepresentation in low-wage frontline jobs, lack of assets and access to emergency savings all present disproportionate threats to the well-being of these communities. Join us for a conversation on how we might turn the tide against economic injustice and enact policies that advance racial equity. This program is presented in partnership with the Clark-Fox Policy Institute.
