Cookbook Launch, Demonstration and Conversation with Jason Wang

Thursday, November 19, 2020 | 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM

Virtual Event

Please join the WashU Alumni Association and the WashU Asian Alumni Network (WUAAN) for a cooking demonstration, cookbook launch and conversation with Jason Wang, BSBA ’09, CEO, Xi’an Famous Foods. Jason will share the recipe and ingredient list for his Hong Shao "Red Braised" Pork Spareribs in advance so that you can cook his authentic family recipe along with him.

While the dish is in the oven, guests will hear Jason’s story—including experimenting with recipes in his WashU dorm room and the opening of his father’s restaurant, Xi’an Famous Foods, in 2005. Xi’an Famous Foods has become the standard bearer for the little-known cuisine of the northwestern Chinese city of Xi’an as well as one of the best Chinese restaurants in the entire country. Jason recently published a cookbook of family recipes that will transport readers to the streets of Xi’an and the kitchens of New York’s Chinatown. "Xi’an Famous Foods" is the cookbook that fans of Xi’an Famous Foods have been waiting for.
