https://gephardtinstitute.wustl.edu/calendar_event/civic-cafe-ferguson-uprising-stlpr/On Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., the Gephardt Institute will host Chad Davis and Danny Wicentowski, Co-Producers of STLPR’s We Live Here: 10 Years After the Ferguson Uprising, to lead a Civic Skill Building Workshop about community storytelling.
About the topic:
In 2014, as Mike Brown’s killing and the Ferguson Uprising drew international attention to the St. Louis region, St. Louis Public Radio (STLPR) launched We Live Here, a podcast designed to bring real stories of St. Louisans to the rest of the world. We Live Here centered community stories and both shaped and translated St. Louis’s identity as a city. Ten years later, STLPR has launched an anniversary season of We Live Here to honor that history and reflect on where St. Louis is today.
We’ll learn about the role of local media in the Ferguson Uprising and gain tangible storytelling skills to help us be more informed and engaged community members.
While not required, RSVP’s assist our team in ordering enough food. Please RSVP on the event page to reserve your spot. If you can no longer attend, please email gephardtinstitute@wustl.edu to cancel your RSVP.
