Book Launch: 'More Than Just Hummus'

Thursday, October 15 | 4:00 PM

Virtual Event

Author and WashU alumnus Matt Adler discusses his new book, "More Than Just Hummus: A Gay Jew Discovers Israel in Arabic."

In his new book, Matt Adler explores the diversity of Arabic-speaking Israel from the perspective of a gay Jewish man.  Using the language he learned in college, Matt visits Jewish, Muslim, Christian and Druze communities.  His adventures include sharing his gay identity with a questioning teenager, hitchhiking on golf carts in a rural Druze village, and celebrating Shabbat—all in Arabic. The virtual talk will be moderated by Professor Younasse Tarbouni (Senior Lecturer in Arabic).
