Speaker Information

Professor Fazzari is an economist in his 42nd year on the Washington University faculty. He is a research fellow of the Weidenbaum Center where he served as associate director from 2008 to 2020 and director from 2020 to 2022. He has taught macroeconomic courses for thousands of undergraduates and advised a distinguished group of PhD students. His widely published research on business investment, sources of economic growth, and the macroeconomic effects of rising inequality has received over 20,000 citations. A highlight of Professor Fazzari's many university leadership roles was his term as the inaugural chair of the revived Department of Sociology, where he recruited the first ten faculty members, and worked with his new colleagues to create both undergraduate and graduate programs.
