Genres include but are not limited drama, futurism, comedy and animation. The theme of this year's festival is African Futurism.

Of note this year, the Saturday matinee will include the latest in African animation and will be followed by a panel of award-winning filmmakers, Ng'endo Mukii and Shofela Coker.
This event is sponsored by African & African American Studies, Film & Media Studies, the African Students Association, with funding by the Women's Society of Washington University. Funding has also been provided by the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency. Saturday's films are co-presented with the Saint Louis Metropolitan Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
